Yoga
Garden's Practice, Philosophy and Goals
|
 |
|
My
own practice (and what I try to teach in my classes) includes these
three important elements: The breath with relaxation, yoga postures for
bringing greater flexibility and strength, and meditation. The
combination of these elements brings a powerful sense of spirit and
energy into our lives and, though each of these on its own is very
valuable, I find that using them together is what makes a Yoga Garden
practice special.
I like to start the class with deep breathing and a short relaxation,
then going on to seated and standing yoga poses. Before the guided
meditation at the end, I bring in floor postures to begin to slow the
body and mind down together. Our classes are usually in a quiet, low
light setting with minimal teacher/student exchange, unless it is
before or after class...a time where I welcome comments and
suggestions. Soft music enhances our classes and also the use of my
handmade, herbal eye pillows.
The goal of Yoga Garden is to bring the practice of yoga, Reiki and
tarot more fully into the mainstream. I would like more people to have
access to these methods of healing and self-discovery without feeling
the intimidation that sometimes comes with entering into a yoga studio,
Reiki healing center or tarot reader's place. With increased awareness
and practice, these paths of learning and growing can bring such joy
and happiness to your life, as well as better health and a body image.
